Do you know what your pupils are viewing on school technology?

Ane Vernon, a UK based Partner at global law firm Paynes Hicks Beach,  says schools must address the urgent legal issues arising from the use of education technology. Ms Vernon flags safeguarding issues with what children are able to view on devices for school. Scottish primary school pupils were able to access explicit material on search engines and Ms Vernon says it’s likely that the use of EdTech will lead to litigation of some kind in the UK this year (2026).  Legal action is already underway in the US.  UK schools must urgently reflect on their approach to EdTech, she says.
